N.H. Is Campaign Central for Republicans

Polls show a dead-heat, and Romney's campaign is weighing whether to begin running negative ads against Huckabee.

Fred Thompson, the former Tennessee senator, also is trying to compete in Iowa; he's not a factor in New Hampshire.

Should Romney win Iowa's caucuses on Jan. 3, he'd come into New Hampshire in a commanding position and with a strong ground-game; Huckabee's candidacy could be over. But were Romney to lose in Iowa, GOP strategists say he would be wounded but still able to compete in next-up New Hampshire on Jan. 8 because of the foundation he's laid.

If Huckabee triumphs in Iowa, these strategists say, it's unclear whether he can leverage that success into financial and organizational strength in the narrow window between Iowa and New Hampshire.

JBL reveals Irish lies

Elsewhere on Raw, Y2J Chris Jericho won his way into the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania XXIV with victory over Jeff Hardy.

Intercontinental champion Hardy had already qualified for the match, which will see the pair go head-to-head again in what is sure to be a high-flying all-action thriller.

HBK Shawn Michaels could be the man to end Ric Flair's career meanwhile, after agreeing to meet the Nature Boy at the big one in Orlando, Florida.

And general manager William Regal will send Umaga to WrestleMania as Raw's representative in a match for brand superiority against a Smackdown opponent.

Triple H and John Cena also warmed up for their Triple Threat Match with Randy Orton at WrestleMania by beating the WWE champion and Mr Kennedy in a tag team brawl.

EMC and SAP plan a romp in the clouds

EMC may partner with German software giant SAP to develop a suite of web hosted storage and application services.

In an interview with Reuters, SAP executive Doug Merritt said the two companies are in early-stage talks to add SAP's business applications to EMC's burgeoning software-as-a-service (SaaS) storage platform.

Both companies are mum on any technical or financial details of the proposed collaboration. But let's look at how things lay.

In January, EMC unveiled MozyEnterprise, the first offering in its new hosted software line dubbed "Fortress." The online backup and recovery suite is based on technology acquired from Berkeley Data Systems last October. EMC made sure to point out Mozy is only the first step in expanding the SaaS operation.

Queensryche has a tour stop at home

In the late 1980s, it was second only to Heart as the most popular band to come out of Seattle.

Dubbed "The Thinking Man's Heavy-Metal Band" because of its smart lyrics and serious approach to music and performance, the band built a following before ever actually playing here. Determined from the start to conquer the world, it bypassed the nightclub route and went straight into the studio. Its independent recordings were hits on local radio, which led to a recording contract with EMI America. The debut "Queensryche" album came out in 1983 to good reviews and impressive sales. After that, the band began doing local shows and touring, building an international audience.

Queensryche released its elaborate, political-thriller concept album, "Operation Mindcrime," in 1988, but really hit its stride in 1990 with "Empire," its slickest, most popular release.

Bad blends: biofuel labeling often inaccurate

Biofuel blends may not always be what the label claims. A study at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution found that many smaller distributors could be "splash blending."

While sampling blended biodiesel fuels purchased from small-scale retailers, researchers at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution found that many of the blends do not contain the advertised amount of biofuel.

Marine chemist Chris Reddy and colleagues sampled pure biodiesel and blends from more than a dozen distributors across the United States. When testing fuels listed as 20 percent biodiesel (commonly known as B20), they found that the actual percentage of biofuel ranged from as little as 10 percent to as much as 74 percent. Only 10 percent of samples met the specifications for biofuel blends required for vehicles of the U.S.

Dallas Stars don't want rest at the expense of rhythm

As far as unrestricted free agents, I think they will have some very tough choices on older players Mattias Nortsrom and Stu Barnes. I think Barnes has a better chance of sticking around because of the trade of Jeff Halpern. Miettinen, Hagman, Brad Winchester and Johan Holmqvist are all desirable players, but the money would have to fit.

The one fly in the ointment in committing for three seasons at $7.8 million to Brad Richards is that Mike Modano's contract counts against the cap even if he retires. In the new CBA, the league tried to prevent teams from spreading the cash out over long-term deals for retiring players. For example, giving someone a 10-year deal for $10 million, and having that deal loaded near the front of the contract. Thus, the cap hit would be only $1 million a year and the player could retire after two years and, in theory, have the contract come off the books when he retired.
