Toy retailer entertains web upgrade

Independent toy retailer The Entertainer has completed a website refresh and contracted ecommerce specialist Escalate Retail to provide a software suite for the back-end.

The implementation cost just over 400,000, including overall hosting, development and license costs, in the first year but since the system went live in October 2007, one of the retailer's sites, thetoyshop.com, has increased sales by 147 per cent, according to The Entertainer's online marketing and ecommerce manager Richard Bewley.

The system replaces a bespoke implementation made before thetoyshop.com and The Entertainer's other brand Gadgetshop were acquired, which was deemed too inflexible to be able to cope with the peaks and troughs of traffic.

McCain apologizes for Bill Cunningham's Obama comments

Sen. John McCain quickly denounced comments Cincinnati radio host Bill Cunningham made about Sen. Barack Obama, during McCain's local appearance Tuesday.

Cunningham, who hosts a conservative talk show on WLW-AM, made opening remarks prior to McCain's speech at Memorial Hall in Over-the-Rhine. According to numerous media reports, Cunningham pointedly referred to the Democratic candidate by his full name, Barack Hussein Obama, called him a "hack" and suggested he received "sweetheart deals" as a Chicago politician.

McCain, immediately after his speech, told reporters he didn't know about the remarks beforehand, but he repudiated them, according to a National Public Radio report.

"My entire campaign I have treated Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton with respect," McCain said.

Victims and perpetrators have gorged out their experiences, but those who commanded the forces of rebellion and bear the greater responsibilities are yet to dignify the Commission by appearing and testifying.

Although President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has reiterated her support for the TRC process, comments made by her Tuesady morning during her regular "Talk with the President's radio program, indicate that she is not prepared to submit to the TRC process and tell her people what she knows about the war and the period dating to 1979.

She says she does not want to make the TRC a spectacle. The Analyst looks at the President utterances and their implications.

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf gave a shortcut response to a question as to whether or not she would appear before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and tell the Liberian people and the world what she knows about the 14-year war and the events before it dating to 1979.

Half of Scots see Muslims as 'cultural threat' in wake of terrorist ...

Having already experienced the attack on Glasgow airport where even doctors were involved the awful truth is that people just don't know who to trust.

Of course this is probably part of the Militant Islamic strategy. The greater the mistrust they can create the more they can say that we nasty Westerners are haters of anything Islamic then they can create more convertees to "the cause". Militant Islam is thoroughly evil and misguided.

Osama Saeed is right though. Scotland is probably the most likely place that could put these issue aside because are naturally a tolerant people.

The danger is though that one more major attack anywhere in the UK and that opportunity could be lost overnight. It's on a knife edge and if it goes the wrong way then we'll all be the loosers Muslims and none Muslims alike.

Hip-Hop Rumors: LaLa Plumps Up, Amerie Dropped? AHHmerican Gangster!

Somebody hit me with this as an explanation as to the title of Mariah's new CD, E=MC2.

“Just to clarify your Mariah E=MC2 comment it has nothing to do with Eminem. E stands for Emancipation(as in the title of her last album) MC is self explanatory and the 2 or squared simply means part 2. Emancipation of Mariah 2 but doesn't E=MC2 sound alot better."

Ddot the King hit me with that.

Charlamagne from Wendy Williams said this:

“Come on illseed! Mariah's album title is E for Emancipation the MC for Mariah Carey and the 2 represents the Sequel - Emancipation Part 2."

LMAO! I didn't really think that the E meant Eminem, but it's more interesting that way.

Google to expand child care in Baylands

Architects for Google presented plans for a daycare facility for 250 children alongside Palo Alto's Baylands to the Architectural Review Board Thursday.

The site at 1129 San Antonio Ave. lies just across the street from another Google daycare facility for 80 children under construction at 3801 E. Bayshore Road. Google offices are also nearby in Mountain View.

The board's preliminary review required no vote, but members said they liked the plans despite concerns about parking.

The proposal calls for tearing down three existing office buildings susceptible to flooding because they lie below a federally required eight-foot mark and replacing them with a one-story row of classrooms and play spaces.

The buildings, bordered by salt marshes and a utility yard, would measure about 46,500 square feet, project manager David Blitz of the Staubach Company said.
