Viewer Comments On Gun Control
Because the State of Illinois in its infinite wisdom has denied me the right to carry a firearm to protect myself, I might be killed. Not a situation I would wish on ANYONE. Thank you for asking for opinions on gun control. Sincerely, Jeff Clauss, ChicagoHow many more wake up calls do we need until law makers realize that some new, strict gun control laws need to be passed? How about a much longer waiting period? One, two, maybe even three months? How about a limit on the number of guns a person can have, say, two? How about more detailed background checks? If you've ever been admitted into a mental hospital, suffer from depression, ever been charged with assault, etc. then no guns for you, period. How about anybody found with a gun that isn't registered to them automatically serves a day or two or a week in jail along with a massive fine? Maybe make them as expensive as a car? Make certain guns cost $10,000 dollars and the bullets cost a premium as well.

Humanitarian Aid and Nation Building: Can Outsiders Really Help?
All of these are life saving activities. The second obligation is governance and capacity building. We need to assist governments at all levels to develop transparent and accountable governments, promote rule of law, and develop civil society. This is not the same as elections. I would not suggest that elections are an immediate requirement in a nation-building exercise. They should come later, but rule of law is a critical element in governance and capacity building. The third obligation is disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration, and that's an activity that the military has to do. If you look at Haiti and at the current events in Iraq, the military is very reluctant to engage in the disarmament of populations. It is not really what they do.
Buy Amazon - Kindle is the iPod of books
Here are five reasons why the Kindle is the next must-have gadget akin to the iPod. 1. Solves real "problems" for consumers and readers I have no need to carry around 80 hard cover books with me at a time, let alone 1,000. Sony's dud e-book reader's main benefit: carry around 80 hard cover books at once. I just want to read one book at a time. But sometimes I finish my book and I wish I had one more. Maybe I'm in the mood for something different than what I just finished. Or maybe it was so good I want something else by the same author. Kindle is the first ebook reader with its own cellular wireless connection to let you get new books anytime, almost anywhere when the mood strikes. It's not wifi, you don't need to find hot spots — it's like a cell phone. What about periodicals? I want to get my newspapers and magazines quick.
Meredith Kercher's funeral held
Kercher, an exchange student from Leeds University, was found semi-naked with a deep cut to her throat. Her brutal death made international headlines after prosecutors revealed their belief that she was killed because she refused to have sex with one or more attackers. It also resonated with European students as thousands of young people like Kercher study under the Erasmus exchange programme. Perugia is a choice destination. A suspect in her murder, Rudy Hermann Guede, a 20-year-old man from Ivory Coast, was extradited back to Italy earlier this month from Germany, for questioning over the murder. Police say they had found fingerprints matching his on Kercher's pillow, which place him at the scene of the crime. He left Italy for Germany after the killing and was arrested there on November 20. Dick Jerardi: College basketball wrap
OU won, 64-37. WILDEST GAME Creighton beat Bradley, 111-110, in two overtimes. The teams will play each other again Friday in the opening round of the MVC Tournament. Creighton now has 10 consecutive 20-win seasons. HAS THIS BEEN DONE? Davidson finished 20-0 in the Southern Conference. That has to be a record. Memphis and Cornell are the only other teams unbeaten in league play. Memphis has two regular-season league games left, Cornell three. DICK JERARDI'S TOP 15 1. Memphis (28-1): Shot well from everywhere, but did not defend for once and held on, 76-67 at Southern Mississippi. USM shot 54.2 percent against the Tigers, who had been holding teams to 37.8 percent. 2. Candidates offer final messages before Iowa caucus
She fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds back in 1993. To prevent this disastrous health care crisis that is now devastating the American people, and America. She fought so hard for the American people that she risk almost completely destroying her husbands presidency. I haven't forgotten her heroic effort. If any Presidential hopeful for universal health care deserves my support, it's her. Also, if we the American people fail to bring enough pressure on our government to give us HR 676 which we all so desperately need NOW! Then we will need the most skilled politician we can get on our side to broker the best health care plan for the American people that we can get. Though it will be less than we need, and less than we deserve. The politician I think to best do this is Hillary Clinton.
