Dylan descends on Dallas House of Blues

Bob Dylan's music seems to have always been a part of contemporary American life, yet so little is known about him.

The 66-year-old singer/songwriter, who rose to prominence on a wave of a cultural revolution in the mid-'60s, made an art out of toying with the press early on. Unwilling to reveal much of himself or his creative process, Dylan delighted in non sequiturs and folding questions back upon themselves during interviews from that heady era.

Then he withdrew from the spotlight in the '70s and spent much of the decade reeling from a series of personal trials. Dylan was almost reclusive, resisting any attempt to lift the veil of mystery surrounding his music. It remains true today as most new interviews with Dylan seem like exercises in futility, round-robins of insightful queries and opaque responses.

Experts in San Antonio's real estate market remain cautiously optimistic about commercial prospects around the city.

Six panelists discussed the pros and cons of the market Thursday at a Commercial Real Estate Women's forum at the Convention Center.

"We will never be the sexiest kid on the block," said Mark Granados, managing partner with HPI Real Estate Services & Investments. But he added that San Antonio still has a lot in its favor, such as several job-growth industries.

In North Central San Antonio, big things are continuing to happen with Park North, the 1-million-square-foot Central Park Mall redevelopment project led by HPI.

Realtors Search for Solutions to Dwindling Water Supplies

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Realtors build communities, and managing, developing and protecting our nation's water resources is key to supporting the current pattern of economic growth and development which supports those communities. For regions like Las Vegas, which is hosting the 2007 REALTORS Conference & Expo this week, water, or the lack thereof, is of particular concern. The western United States, which is one of the fastest growing regions and also one of the driest, appears to be the most challenged by water shortages.

"As the leading advocate for private property rights, homeownership and housing issues, NAR supports land use and environmental regulations that help manage growth smartly to sustain water resources and also meet the growing needs of local businesses and residents," said National Association of Realtors President Pat V.

Don't blame Duluth cops for action of one

Several years ago, a friend and I, and our dates, were at a haunted house display in Norcross. Long story short, my friend got into a disagreement with another patron. A friend of the patron jumped into the discussion and started to beat up my friend.

Police came to break up the scuffle, at which point the guy who jumped my friend said, "Hold on. I'm with the Douglasville Police Department. Here's my badge." The police arrested the errant officer and charged him with assault. They said that just because he had a badge did not give him license to act as he pleased.

The police asked my friend if he wanted to pursue the charges. They wanted to assure my friend that they wanted justice and felt what the officer did reflected badly on them.

My friend declined.

India Real Estate: Price Correction Looms

A great site and a great project is not necessarily a good investment because the land value may be too high. A cheap deal may be as bad because chances are the deal is cheap for good reasons. So these formulas do not work. We take a bottom-up view. In general, we prefer things that are below the radar screen of the typical institutional investor.

We are happy to invest in cities that an average US real estate fund manager has not heard of.

Dissing the Disgruntled! Grazer-Gate Update: A summary of the L.A.Times' second-time-farce scandal is here. The most recent at-bats ...

Resigned editorial page editor Andres Martinez says the paper's newly-arrived editor and publisher

caved to a disgruntled newsroom that is annoyed at [the paper's owners in] Chicago, annoyed at them and annoyed at the autonomy of the opinion pages.

The newsroom unrest, Martinez says, is partly "ideological" (the news pages presumably being more conventionally liberal than his editorial page), partly "a matter of bureaucratic culture," and

some of it a personnel matter (there are some embittered former editorial board members that Kinsley and Carroll sent off to the newsroom).

Hooper cautious over ground share

Chippenham Town chairman Derek Hooper says a potential groundshare between the Bluebirds and Trowbridge Town is far from agreed.

Hellenic League Division One West outfit Trowbridge are looking for a new temporary home while they build a new stadium on Bradley Road in the town.

They are waiting for planning permission from West Wiltshire District Council and will need a home for two seasons.

But Hooper has distanced himself from any speculation about an agreement, despite Trowbridge hosting Cheltenham Saracens at Hardenhuish Park on Saturday.

"It is a long way from being anywhere near tied up," said Hooper.

"It is still in the melting pot because the two leagues have got to agree it, the Wiltshire FA have got to agree it and, at the moment, the Wilts FA are not looking terribly hopeful."
